This day was much more relaxed. It was Sunday, so breakfast was served a little later and many businesses were closed. We spent some time walking around the agritourismo and enjoying the sights.
We drove to Sienna. It's a beautiful old city, kind of walled, but not completely, with very narrow streets.
We had lunch like the locals (and pigeons) do--by sitting on the ground at Il Campo, the town square. It's sort of shaped like an amphitheater and city hall is the focal point.
We toured the Duomo, and it was really spectacular.
The church and tower are made of white and dark green--so green it's almost black--marble.
The inside and out were both very ornate and pretty.
The church contained frescoes from the 1400s that had never been restored, but they were still very bright.
Sienna isn't very big, so we returned to Greve in the middle of the afternoon. We really enjoyed Greve, it was exactly the Tuscan town we were looking for. A street fair was going on that day, so we looked at the booths and enjoyed the town. We bought bread, mozzarella, tomatoes, fruit, and wine and made dinner at the agritourismo. Then, we tried to take pictures of ourselves in front of the house. This was done on the roof of the car using the camera's timer. I think we took five pictures and in every one of them, I look like a huge goober.
